The NOL Group has unveiled its new 14,000 20-foot-equivalent unit APL Temasek container ship at the PSA Pasir Panjang Terminal in Singapore.
APL Temasek is the first in a series of 10 14,000-TEU vessels on order by the Singapore-based shipping and logistics group. It is the largest container ship to be registered in Singapore and is currently working on Loop 4 of the Asia-Europe trade.
The delivery of the vessel follows 10 new 10,000-TEU ships that joined the fleet from 2011 to 2012. The new vessels are part of a $4 billion fleet renewal program aimed at improving NOL’s slot cost. They are replacing older, less efficient ships that are either sold or returned to charter owners.
